Inspiring stories from our volunteers and widows
Val M.'s Story"I learned of Terry Doyle and her "Ministry To Women" sometime early last quarter of 2019. A mutual Christian sister shared with Terry that I am a widow with health challenges, who needs to get townhouse packed up to relocate.
After hearing Terry's introduction of herself and her ministry; I was taken aback by her warmth of voice & tone. I sensed authentic caring about women who fit my demographic. I recall Terry sharing her Ministry purpose/burden - to come along side women: the widowed, the senior, the health challenged, etc. She explained that her ministry was new. She was coordinating with men and women who shared her desire to be Christ's hands and feet within the framework of her ministry. After an informal interview, to understand some of my needs, Terry stated she'd get back with me. In the interim, Terry's mother required her care and time due to illness, I believe. I was contacted several times by Terry to see 1) if I still had a need and 2) to let me know she had not forgotten about me. In February 2020, Terry coordinated to have 2 ladies to come by and pack up a lot of dishes and kitchen items. The ladies were so, so kind and skilled at packing. The fellowship was so great that I desired to share lunch or a cup of tea together. They didn't accept. They said the had come to serve. Terry followed up to see how things went. Again, I experienced Terry to be very engaging. I've thought of Terry and the Ladies many times since. I'm grateful and appreciative to have met all three of them!" Julianne's Volunteering StoryIn February, a friend and I had the opportunity to help a lovely lady pack up her precious dishes. She was starting a new chapter in her life and I felt privileged to be a very small part of that chapter. She greeted us heartily and said we should begin with prayer. She explained that she gave tea parties to young men and women with these precious dishes. She did this so these young adults would learn manners and while doing that she also shared the gospel.
Everyone has a story to tell and I was blessed beyond measure to hear hers. It was a delightful time. |
